Caring for Others, Caring for Yourself: Studying the Spiritual Dimension of Caregving
Dates: Alternate Tuesdays, from March 7th through June 27th, from 7-9PM
The Rigpa Spiritual Care Program is offering a unique opportunity for professional caregivers and trained volunteers in healthcare and human services. This study and support group looks at topics such as caregiving as spiritual practice, compassion in the workplace, identifying and responding to the needs of the dying and spiritual preparation for death. Each session includes a short video or audio presentation by Sogyal Rinpoche, meditation, guided reflections and discussions on how to use the wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist teachings to help us deal with those who are sick and dying, as well as how to take care of ourselves, as caregivers. It's open to folks from all spiritual backgrounds.
The class will meet at the Jewel Heart Center at 260 West Broadway, one block south of canal street with the entrance around the side of the building on St. John's Alley. There's a suggested donation of $100 for 9 sessions.
If you are interested in attending the class and/or have any questions, call the Rigpa Phone Line at 212-946-5876.
